Suzanne KoningsChair
Suzanne Konings studied Theory of Music at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (bachelor), the Royal Conservatory (master) and Musicology at Utrecht University. Since 2004 she has been head of the Music Theory department of the Royal Conservatoire, where she organizes the courses “Muziek als Vak” and the master program “Music Education according to the Kodàly Concept”. In addition to her teaching activity in the conservatory, she also works with singers of the National Youth Choir. Together with some colleagues, Suzanne has started a research group on the development of musicianship skills in the context of an integrated curriculum in higher music education. Nathalie Vos got her bachelor's degree in classical violin and music theory at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Belgium. She received her Master of Music Theory at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Currently she teaches music theory at the Sweelinck Academy of the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In addition, she is also the conductor of a choir in The Hague, and sings in a choir herself. |
Edwin Paarlberg
Board Member
Edwin Paarlberg studied music theory, composition, and arranging at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Next to his full-time teaching activities at the CvA, Edwin works as a freelance conductor, composer, and arranger. He is also co-treasurer. Román SantosBoard Member
Román studied violin and music theory at Codarts (Rotterdam), obtaining his Master in Music Theory in 2019. He teaches solfege and violin at various schools in the Netherlands and, from September 2020, he will start studying Musicology at the KU Leuven in Belgium. Román is responsible for the maintenance of the association's website and also helps with the accounting. |
Ralf PistersBoard Member
Ralf Pisters is music theorist and pianist. He works as a teacher of theoretical subjects and main subject Theory of Music at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He also teaches theory at the Academie Muzikaal Talent. He is coordinator and vice-chairman of the Theory and History department of the CvA. As a theorist, he is interested in the analysis and writings of music belonging to the eighteenth and (long) nineteenth century. After his training as a computer scientist, he also worked for some time as a software developer in the corporate world. |
